Description
The original of “The Advocate” now hangs on my nieces wall. The details of the heavily textured original painting were developed from text messages with my niece. Many believers see Jesus being crucified with a crown of thorns or in his royal regalia as the Prince of Peace but never with both at the same time. The bruised and battered right side of his face is crowned with thorns that were painted with the sharp lines of a pallet knife. His blood is depicted as pouring out from the righthand side of his face. The left side of his face represents him after his resurrection topped with a golden and jeweled crown.
His hair was actually painted with a broken tooth pick and many layers of paint colors. The background is a representation of the royal blood that was spilt on the cross and the purple used throughout the painting is a nod to his royal lineage.
