Description
When I started this piece it was as a compliment to the painting of bow tie, “Blue Bow.” I had always envisioned both paintings being used by an office to symbolize his and hers…but alas it was not to be so. This painting of a set French high healed pumps designed by designer Christian Louboutin reminds me of the anticipation any event can bring. A first date, a followup date, a quiet meal, Valentine’s day, a dance, a party, an engagement party, a marriage, and an anniversary all bring on anticipation and butterflies to many people. Today it decorates the home of a precious couple (Jonathan and Erin) who happened to see it on their honeymoon in North Georgia.
Every year I try to articulate my love for my precious wife. Whether it is by buying chocolates (and then eating them myself without asking), taking her out to MY favorite restaurant, writing a love letter (and then sealing it in a wine bottle so she can’t read it) or making a declarative statement. I am one of the lucky ones to be spending a lifetime with my high school sweetheart. I say all the time, “I won the girlfriend lottery”, even though we both know there wasn’t a lottery! I do consider a long marriage the new status symbol. Hopefully you do to. However if that’s not your reality, the anticipation that this painting represents will hopefully will be in your future.
The splash and drip in this painting are representative of quirkiness and fun existence that can be in any relationship.
